In an unprecedented move by BBC Radio 1, the show has paid their respects in a unique way to house music tastemaker, the late Frankie Knuckles. Just days ago, the channel made a long-lost Essential Mix available online, before they actually broadcast it on-air.

The Frankie Knuckles mix was resurrected from deep down in the BBC archives, so unless you were in the crowd at Pacha Ibiza during the summer of 2000, where it was recorded live.. you haven’t heard this mix. This has never been done before,  as such it is the mark of a true legend. R.I.P The Godfather of House.
