Check Out Pioneers New Turntable; SL-1200 Successor?

Global electronic brand Pioneer who have long championed the DJ will re-visit the roots of the humble turntable with their latest offering a jump into the exploding market.

The longstanding electronics producer has though, previewed a new model  that aesthetically looks identical to  Panasonics SL-1200 that was first manufactured back in 1972 with clean boxy lines and robust design – why re-invent the wheel right?

Without even a model number or name there isn’t much to run on in terms of details but the kind folk over at Gear Junkies did manage to confirm that there was a USB port for those vinyl enthusiasts looking to digitalise their collections.

With such subtle changes its got us thinking as to why the Pioneer look to enter the turntable market? Is it like that of the IKEAs discontinued and highly popular vinyl-shelving solution the ‘Expidet’ that was more expensive to produce than this newer, refreshed model the ‘Kallax’ or have Pioneer looked to integrate improved technology into a sturdy and proven base of the historically proven SL-1200?

All we know is its slightly more practical than the ‘tree-line reading record player’

It seems with vinyls resurgence Pioneer look to become more deeply involved in the record scene once again with an affordable (hopefully) and quality component  alongside their industry standard digital gear.

Time will tell. For now, check out the sleek lines of Pioneers new turntable design.
