Take a Look at the New, Promising AKAI APC Series

Akai, a Japanese company famous for its legendary MPC samplers, is refreshing its APC lines entirely by introducing three new products at the MusicMesse 2014: The APC40 Mk2, APC Key25 and APC Mini.

The APC40 Mk2 are more or less a subtle upgrade to the already solid older brother APC40 – better looking, better fader, and with more RGB pads. Its sibling – the APC Mini are tasked to contain the success of Novation’s ultra-portable clip controller, the Launchpad Mini. And for USD99 retail price, looks set for a stiff competition on the front.

Our eyes are really locked on the APC Key25 though. Combining two octave keys with a 5×8 button matrix, the Key25 would be amazing for testing ideas on the studio as well as live performances involving live synth playing and sequencing. The 5×8 buttons are a big plus compared to the Launchkey 25, which only includes two rows of buttons.

We’re really excited with these products, and are waiting for them to come on store. Meanwhile, more videos worth checking:
