Sahhh Underground: Old Paris metro poised to become nightclub

In a move that can’t be described anything short of ‘so-Euro’, plans have been drawn up by Parisian government for a revamp of Metro stations that have fallen into disuse, best of which is the proposal of a literally underground nightclub.

Inspired by projects like the ‘High Line’ in NYC – a vintage raised railway line turned walkway/garden (and also an incidentally great way to see into hot guys’ windows…I’ve heard) – Mayoral candidate Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet revealed the plans earlier this month to transform the 11 phantom metro stations into cultural spaces.

Collaborating with architect Manal Rachdi and urban planner Nicolas Laisnè to create renderings of the proposal; and they’re expected to look a little summ’ summ’ like this;

Despite the potential overuse of purple the plans – which also include ideas for an old station swimming pool, gallery space, restaurants and shopping precinct – the plans have reached such popularity in Paris and beyond that they’re rumoured to have the go ahead whether Kosciusko-Morizet gets elected or not.

Culture and party arts trumping government preferences? Oui-oui!
