Yoko Ono and EDM? Say It Ain’t So!

Get ready to hold on to all of your shit, and we mean really fucking grip, because that for boding feeling in the depth of the loins of the EDM means only one thing – Yoko Ono’s coming to break shit up in the dance world (ha).

In what we can only hope is a move in the name of the avant-garde and not a career change, the 80-year-old Ono has tried to own-o dance music in her own special way, starting with the ironically titled ‘Bad Dancer’ and following onto what we can only assume is her interpretation of twerking (just go ahead and gouge out my eyes now).

Featuring a mixed bag of famous face, including Reggie Watts, Mike D of the Beastie Boys, Roberta Flack and Ira Glass of This American Life (we see coherency was not an imperative), ‘Bad Dancer’ is as cringe-worthy as it sounds, but is somehow, almost tragically, as catchy as it is memorable.

Opinions of the song are yet to be seen, we respect Ono – in the special way one respects someone they have serious beef with – but we fear a good critical reception. If Yoko Ono can champion the EDM sphere, we’re not sure what hope there is left.

That echoing laugh spells one of pure evil. Pure, ironic, twerky evil.
