Joseph Capriati – Self Portrait [Drumcode]

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode presents one of the biggest names in peak-time techno Joseph Capriati and his sophomore album ‘Self Portrait’. He’s had an outstanding 2013, headlining his first coast-to-coast tour of the US, playing a historic 12 hour set at the Metropolis in Napoli plus headlining every major techno festival on the planet. Already ingrained in the consciousness of techno lovers this year thanks to ‘Fratello’ and ‘Awake’ – the pair of searing dancefloor slayers that were released in June as the album’s first singles – the record goes deeper than the club stormers the Italian is famed for. Over the 11 future-facing tunes, he displays his deft production skill to supersede his reputation for bodyslamming dancefloors.

Rolling, pulsing peak-time techno is all over this album, especially in tunes like ‘Always and Forever’ and ‘Basic Elements’, but there’s also experimental vibes over ‘Electrolytic’ and even a sense of dnb in the title-track. Check out some tunes below and head to Beatport to buy it.
