Google Glass: Music To Our Ears, Literally

Holy shit, we’re in the goddamn future.

Furthering the invention of Orwellian proportions, google glass has crossed the border onto our turf, the musical sphere. The augmented reality glasses already have freaky as fuck operations – being able to film shit from your eye view, share everything (*cue imagining filthy possibilities*) and even translate your voice.

But today Google are unveiling new musical features, including a Shazam-style song identifier, features which allow users to scroll through playlists and the ability to stream music straight from Google’s musical offering, Google Play. Ear buds have also been created which directly connect to the glasses exclusive only through, you don’t say, Google for the low low price of $US85.

Googs have already established Google Glass to have vocal commands such as ‘take a picture’, now the user will be able to state ‘listen to’ and complete the circle of talking to yourself and viewing shit straight to the retina with accompanying sound tracks.

“With these new features, we’re now building a great music experience on Glass, whether you’re a classical music professor, an acclaimed sound engineer and hip-hop producer, or someone who wants to listen to their favourite tunes anytime, anywhere,” stated the director of marketing for Google Glass, Ed Sanders.

The new features might just be Google’s next step in a push to sell a technology which has faced much scrutiny since it’s release earlier this year. Google dismisses the claims that Google Glass might pertain to concepts of privacy invasion, stating that it’s simply a device of convenience and innovation, stopping users from the constant strain of staring at a smartphone. Well, naturally the logical conclusion is to project a smartphone device DIRECT TO YOUR BRAIN.

Jumping on the bandwagon is Young Guru, hip-hop producer and star of the promotional video for the product. In a true act we can get behind, he uses the glasses to find a spanish translation to seduce a waitress into getting a big-ol-bowl o’ nachos. We kind of lost track after that.

“It’s an immense timesaver, and a great tool to make the world that much cooler, and realise some of the dreams we had as kids,” Young Guru said of the glasses, not the nachos.

“For all of us who grew up watching Star Trek,” he added, “this is sort of the beginning of the holodeck.”

We can imagine Spock having a pretty out-of-this-world boner over this one.
