Having recently joined forces with Dubfire to bring us the third instalment of their successful ‘Elements’ series, Ideal Audio boss Oliver Huntemann flies solo again on his latest double-single, ‘Licht / Schatten’. Despite being highly capable of producing arena conquering techno, his latest release finds the German producer stripping back his sound allowing the groove to dominate: minimal yet funky, the A-side ‘Licht’ draws on a driving, pulsing and cascading bassline and stiffly arranged hi-hats and kicks, while the flipside ‘Schatten’ treats a similar path, anchored by an industrial kick and flash-like synth before a mechanised acidic break.
