Franz Ferdinand bastardises Grimes track

Grimes’ totally-awesome breakout single ‘Oblivion’ has taken a further beating with pseudo-folk crew Franz Ferdinand ripping it to crassly harmonised shreds for French radio station Oui FM.

The live acoustic version features the boys drawling and strumming in the style of vacant man-husks. Making the solid decision to completely cut the experimental audio treats that is the foundation of the original hit, Franz attempt to replace it with maraca stylings, played by a dude who actually could not look more stoned.

All-round disappointing, the crappy cover comes on the back of another by punky sisters Katie and Alison Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Swearin’. Recorded for the amusement of tweens the world over, the cringingly-Veronicas-style track is described as a ‘#1 pop feminist fantasy realised’… NO.

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but seriously, you guys actually suck and are totally ragging on the awesome spirit of Grimes.

And seriously, MARACAS?! GO BACK TO THE COMMUNE.

Sigh.
