Following recent heavy hitters from the likes of Wen and Self Evident, South Fork Sound are set to return with a 12” from Sub FM resident and label boss Blind Prophet and Hirshi, one-third of Brooklyn outfit Archie Pelago. Blind Prophet enlists Hirshi for trumpet duty and the collaboration’s glassy keys and stepper’s groove provide the uplifting background to a forlorn horn. For his remix, kuxxan SUUM builds a slower shuffle, invigorating a soca-like bounce with more percussion and some dusty atmosphere, while the stretching out of the track and the push into deeper territory comes from Brooklyn’s Contakt, who has churned the original horn into the accent of a tech roller atop a modulating bassline, noisy hats, and rolling hand drums.
Watch the sunset fall across a body of water, emanating a radiant array of colours, soothing and inspiring, reflecting between both water and sky. The Sunset EP takes you there time and time again. I wish I could put a stream in now, but for now you’ll have to wait. This is one you don’t want to miss.
