A few days ago, Italian house legend Riva Starr released his sophomore album titled Hand In Hand on Snatch! Records.
The record runs a broad and colourful gamut with infectiously playful irreverence, hopping elegantly between styles while offering a refreshing and uniquely personal take on classic sounds and genres. A lush, big-beat string-laden pop gem in Kill Me, surf and San Remo basking noir house in Absence and Si e’ Spentoll Sole, bouncy gospel-funk in Upside Down, ghostly and hypnotic dub surrounds In The Morning, while manic-depressive, bittersweet sing-alongs highlight Nobody’s Fool and Detox. 2013 has been huge for ‘East London’s most popular Italian import’, especially these last few weeks with the release of this and his enormous acid-house-infused Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat collaboration with Fatboy Slim.
