Apple introduces iTunes Radio

At its annual WWDC conference today, Apple announced details of its long-in-the-works streaming radio service. It’s called  iTunes Radio and will launch in the coming months.

A competitor to services like Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, and Google Play Music All Access, its highlight is playlists or “stations” based on the music that already exists in users’ personal libraries, generated from iTunes’ entire catalogue. The iTunes Radio site said in simple terms; “so the more you use iTunes Radio and iTunes, the more iTunes Radio knows what you like to listen to — and the more personalized your experience becomes.”

It will also feature genre-based stations and more. If you’re listening on an iPhone, you can make requests using Siri.

It’s free, like Spotify, with the support of ads and is available ad-free with the paid subscription of iTunes Match. It’s US-only for now but stay tuned! Exciting stuff.
