M.I.A album release date delayed due to unusual circumstances

M.I.A’s fourth studio album ‘Matangi’ is set to be delayed to as early as April this year due to an unusual conflict with her record label Interscope.

The London based rapper spoke about the reasoning behind the delay by commenting to a journalist on the Gold Coast, Australia, “I thought I’d finished it. I finished it and then I handed the record in, like a couple of months ago,”. She then went on “At the moment, I’ve been told it’s too positive. So we’re having a bit of an issue at the label. They’re like ‘You need to like darken it up a bit’. I don’t know what it is but as soon as I work that out.”

M.I.A has taken on the feedback and has on open view on what her next move will be: “I’m taking my time to decide what they mean. It’s an interesting one for me. It’s like, ‘We just built you up as the public enemy No. 1 and now you’re coming out with all this positive stuff.'”

In the interview she also hinted that their are a couple of collaborations with former Major Lazer man and fidget electro pioneer Switch that we can all look forward to. For now let’s take a listen to their work in the past while she tries to find her inner Darth Vader.
