LMFAO call it quits, dance world sighs in relief

LMFAO, the all-bearing-undie wearing duo made up of uncle and nephew combo Redfoo and SkyBlu have called it quits.

Telling news.com.au Redfoo, 37 explained the split “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,”.

Adding “I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” he said. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”

It was their debut album ‘Party Rock’ and mainly the single “Party Rock Anthem” (480+ million views on Youtube) that shot them to global stardom including a stint downunder for 2011’s Stereosonic festival and a swathe of champagne shower sideshows.

Will it be a solo music career Redfoo will take? Possibly. He’s supposedly been on tour with the US Women’s Gymnastic’s team and coaching junior tennis star Ayaka Okuno for several hours a day.

He has also designed a line of tennis clothing and sponsoring the United States Tennis Association’s Party Rock Open in Las Vegas starting Sunday.

There is still a chance though adding “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish … I love all the topics that we talk about,” he said. “I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”

It’s becoming all too common that groups are splitting and chasing their own careers, in the rap game we’ve seen OFWGKTA shatter into various solo projects with Tyler The Creator, Frank Ocean and Hodgy Beats all going their own way.
