Back in April we dropped words that UK dubstepper and one third Magnetic Man producer Skream was producing for Kelis.
Skip forward a couple months and we’ve got a first listen to ‘Distance’, the first ‘deeper and darker’ track from her forthcoming and yet to be named sixth album.
NME were fortunate enough to speak to Kelis earlier this year and briefly touched the how the project came about; ” I was working with a friend of mine and she said ‘Skream’s got this great track for you, can I get him to send it?’. So I said yes and then he sent that track and something else. I’ve been on a real 1990s vibe with this record, it’s kind of trip-hoppish. So I wrote a track to that.”
We think its got some funky UK vibes about it, what do you think?
