Apple CEO Tim Cook recently admitted that Ping, their attempt at a music-based Social Network hadn’t been a successful practice and will be abandoned in the next major version of iTunes.
Cook explained; “We tried Ping, and I think the customer voted and said ‘This isn’t something that I want to put a lot of energy into.’”
The platform, first launched in 2010 aimed to connect users and artists based on their listening preferences – which strangely enough is almost the norm for modern and successful streaming services Spotify and Rdio.
Apple will attempt to implement some of the functions from the existing platform and focus them into the dominant Social Platforms Facebook and Twitter.
