Tommie Sunshine’s Controversial Rant

In either a spate of expression or the biggest troll for the week, veteran producer Tommie Sunshine who has remixed everyone from Fall Out Boy to Kelis has hit his Facebook with a pile of loaded opinions.

In some of the rants he bares his misunderstanding of The XX sounding ‘half-written’ to ‘Indie’ and ‘Underground’ (music) just not being good enough to crossover to the mainstream.

He also points the finger at Australian poster boy Gotye and his track “Somebody That I Used To Know” stating it has no place in the club!

The only real positive plug anyone got was Skrillex for successfully conquering the mainstream and having earned his place there (must have been all those Grammys).

He finished it off (we think) with some fairly worldly advice on the current scene

what I’ve learned today: EDM is experiencing immense growing pains & people aren’t used to hearing people speak their minds. people equate opinion to negativity & their only response to something they don’t like is to be super rude or nasty. says a lot about where we’re at in the world. love saves the day & negativity gets us nowhere. it would be nice if people could discuss a point with intelligence instead of resorting to emotionally-charged responses filled with negative language.

It really does go on and on, as much as you’d like to knock him we have full respect for a man willing to make a statement and stand by it!

Best of the bunch below;

I also think The XX makese no sense. Their songs all sound half-written. No thanks.

Gotye feat. Kimbra “Somebody I Used To Know” has no place in a club & I never need to hear it again in my life. #goaway

‎”Indie” or “Underground” simply means it’s not good enough to cross over to the mainstream. If it was, it would. #fact

‎…and for the record, Skrillex is mainstream now & rightfully so. he’s earned his place there.
