The votes have been submitted and tallied for the DJ Mag Top 100 and finally… the results are in… and the rumours (thanks Tiesto) are true…

Hardwell has taken the #1 spot for 2013 and with that becomes the youngest DJ to ever grab the prestigious honour.

Check out his first interview since his historic victory below, featuring the Dutch superstar talking about how being on the list is “a dream” for him, comparing the event as “the Olympic games” for DJs (minus the strict regulations and even playing field). He then goes on to talk about a debut artists album, Tiesto as both a mentor and role model and his journey as a DJ.

The question is always raised about the legitimacy of the competition – with DJ’s not necessarily being selected based on skill but more so on the size of their fan base, but I guess a poll’s a poll, and we here at Stoney congratulate Hardwell on an amazing accomplishment.
