Troubled but Productive: Booka Shade

After some serious trouble in paradise for the crew, Booka Shade have put problems aside and churned out a new album of funky house beats.

After a mass exodus from Get Physical Records, which the guys had founded with M.A.N.D.Y over a forever ago, they almost had a split while recording the new album since 2010’s, More!

But the fruits of troubled loins seem to be sweet (ew…?). After a move to Manchester’s Eve Studios – which later became the album’s namesake, the band settled in for a good ol’ abusing of the vintage recording equipment stating, ‘it made us feel like a band again, it was like going back to the beginning’.

The guys will be leaving the motherland soon however, tackling literally troubled waters this time for Newcastle’s Fat as Butter festival next month and swinging by a few Sydney, Melbourne and Perth for some sneaky sets in between.

With cameo appearances from techno-soul man Fritz Kalkbrenner and Groove Armada’s Andy Cato rocking the brass, anticipations are high. Embassy One and Blaufeild music are set to drop the tracks in their entirety on November 1. Till then, single Love Inc. has been released to tie us over – see what you make of it below.
