Lee Bannon

Brooklyn-via-Sacramento hip-hop experimenter Lee Bannon is set to release his debut album for Ninja Tune next week titled ‘Alternate / Endings’, and this time he turns his considerable talent and tools to twenty-first-century jungle breaks, utilising a riotous act of imagination and field recordings to drive his sound. The energetic record – which I think has a really misleading title – spans from dark, furiously euphoric stances from the 1990s to more mellow outputs, all without sliding into deferential pastiche.

The 12-track, outstanding hour-long LP won’t be available until January 13, but can now be streamed in its entirety here courtesy of Pitchfork Advance – alternatively, you can pre-order either the CD or 12″ over at Boomkat. Take a listen to the first single from the record ’216′ below.
