Another agonising wait for a SBTRKT album? Maybe not.

Words by Andre Vivero
Remember when you believed the sultry vocals of Yukimi Nagano over SBTRKT’s ‘Wildfire’ would never get old?  Your belief may have been tested as we endured a three year drought of official music from the SBTRKT music project as their stellar self-titled debut was followed up in 2014.

Having just finished a successful run DJing at Listen Out Festival with his presence, Aaron Jerome the man behind SBTRKT spoke to Triple J’s Veronica and Lewis about his next project.

“I’ve been working on it quite heavily on it.. since the last album… moreso than between the first and second album cos I spent alot of that time on tour…I’m really bad at writing music whilst i’m on tour, while the second album touring has been less intense” he explained.

“It’s got more electronic in a way, more grimey as well, so it’s kind of a new space.” He added, giving a further glimpse into the current style of SBTRKT.

Perhaps most exciting for SBTRKT fans, Aaron Jerome elaborated on his timeline for new music when asked if he expects it to be out this year “hopefully quite soon.. hopefully I could tease something up this year”.

Not a sure-fire confirmation on a launch date, but it does not sound like a three year  SBTRKT is upon us. REJOICE!
