Beatport looks to tighten up voting in this years awards by putting the final decision in the hands of a judging panel while leaving the community choice categories to punters. This will essentially steer the digital music store away looking like asses when popular artists with huge fan bases dominate the top spots – ahem lat years DJ Mag Top 100 results.

Based on 2013 sales data winners will spawn from categories including best-Selling Original Track of the Year, Best-Selling Remix of the Year, Best-Selling Album of the Year, Best-Selling Compilation of the Year, and the DJ Choice Award (honoring the track that appeared on the most DJ charts). Outside of this the judging panel will vote on Track of the Year, DJ of the Year, Best Musical Collaboration, Best New Artist, and Lifetime Achievement.

Fans can vote up to once a day on the community categories for “Track of the Year” that includes Martin Garrix’s “Animals”, the heavily fought for “Artist of the Year” that refreshingly totes Hot Since 82, MK and Dusky, “Label of the Year” with all the big guns feat OWSLA, Defected, and Drumcode and of course “Album of the Year” which will probably see Daft Punks “Random Access Memories” face off against Disclosures “Settle”.
