BBC Radio 1 Announce ‘Essential Mix of the Year’

Eric Prydz

Eric Prydz has taken out BBC Radio 1’s ‘Essential Mix of the Year’ beating out 64 other DJs with his effort way back in February and following on from Nicolas Jaar’s 2012 win. Although we thought a good handful of others dropped more modulated mixes including Machinedrum, Ben UFO, Disclosure, Hot Since 82 or even Skrillexs that set the record for most listens, it was the Swedish DJ that took the annual crown.

Listening to his almost 2-hour mix is that of a journey and represents a more nostalgic approach to DJing, not one about being the loudest or waiting for that filthy drop that has become the norm for ‘EDM’. All in all, a deserving win for the Pryda Friends label owner.

Those looking to hear BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tongs soothing voice can actually catch him playing at this years Australian Open.
