100+ Charged At Stereosonic Sydney… Bumbag Sales Surge

BUSTED… Over 100 festival bros and brozettes have had their bumbags confiscated after being caught with ding dongs, k, crack and all those strange sounding street slang.

Operation Commander, Supernintendo Superintendent David Eardley issued the post drug bust mortem and spoke happily about the good behaviour everyone displayed on the first leg of the national Stereosonic festival;

“While most revellers enjoyed the festival safely, the number of people caught with illegal drugs or alcohol was definitely of concern…Police will continue to target people over drug possession as these substances are illegal, they pose very serious health risks and in some instances they can prove lethal.”

The official stats from the Sydney leg of the festival stated (cue American sports commentator voice) 641 people searched, with a cool 108 of that number charged with possession, 6 charged with supply and another 6 due to ‘alcohol related offences’. Hopefully the accused have a pretty good defence… lawyer.

Timing couldn’t have been worse following the recent roadside drug tests at last weekends boutique electronic festival Strawberry Fields that saw one in two drivers found with narcotics in their system. This coupled with a death at hardstyle festival Defqon 1 earlier in the year will make it harder and harder to sway public opinion to the positives of electronic music, something the US is struggling with surrounding multiple fatalities loosely attributed to ecstasy.

The Stereosonic festival will continue  through Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane next weekend.
