Trance superstar Tiesto has been beaten out in Forbes 2013 ‘DJ Rich List’ after being pushed to the lowly second spot in the annual report.
It was the Scottish dance-pop sensation Calvin Harris, with his unstoppable chart topping that reigned number one earning a cool $46 million, a reasonable $14m over the dutchman this year and the first time the lanky personality cracked the top ten.
Speaking with Forbes, Harris modestly explained; “The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years, I happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
With Avicii admitting candidly that fees have gotten a little out of hand “The money you get for DJing at these places has gone to extremes,”
It wouldn’t be a list without the ‘King of Cheese’ David Guetta making an appearance coming in at number three earning a decent $30 million while the now faux-retired Swedish House Mafia trio banking $25 million.
Surprisingly DJ Pauly D scrapes through on par with Mad Decent boss Diplo having netted $13 million a piece, something that leaves us slightly worried about the state of ‘EDM’ that a reality tv ‘star’ can earn as much as a dedicated producer and label owner.
