Our friends over in the monarch really do love dance music with every one in six singles sold of the electronic kind.
Industry trade body BPI, who represents the UK’s recording industry, much like ARIA in Australia and the RIAA in the states found that dance sales were up by a whopping 34%.
Most probably noticeable sales from Calvin Harris (more UK chart hits than Michael Jackson), Duke Dumont (#2) and Disclosures (#1) UK chart topping hits as well as a massive release from Daft Punk (#1)!
Geoff Taylor, BPI bossman outlined “With so many memorable releases this year, not least Daft Punk’s iconic summer anthem, ‘Get Lucky’, dance music is well on its way to becoming one of the defining sounds of 2013.”
So it’s not only the USA getting amongst the beats!
Duke Dumont and Disclosure will play this years Listen Out parties alongside Classixx, John Talabot and more.
