Gold Coast beatmaker Paces is back with the follow up to his Hypem # 2 debut Julian EP. The single ‘Can’t Touch Me (feat. Madeline Vida)’ is out today on Perth electronic label DIEHIGH. Featuring the vocal talents of Madeline Vida, ‘Can’t Touch Me’ sees Paces staying true to his sound; kalimbas, bright chords, catchy pop vocals, a dash of Jersey Club and Future Beats, and most importantly… vibes for days.

Paces, AKA Mikey Perry has been busy producing tracks for Tkay Maidza’s upcoming EP, remixing the likes of Safia, Kilter, Danny T, Rattraps, Sietta, Parachute Youth, YesYou and Sampology and supporting big names like Lunice, Ryan Hemsworth, Kaytranada, Djemba Djemba and Mr Carmack. His bootlegs regularly receive over 20,000 plays on Soundcloud and he’s certainly showing no signs of slowing down.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Madeline Vida for over a year, ever since i heard her tune ‘Wolves’ on Unearthed. We tried to get it together via email so many times but it took until about a month ago for the planets to align. It was worth the wait though, her voice is just ridiculous! I remember when she sent me the demo; I paused Wolf Of Wall Street and listened to it through the shitty little speakers on my laptop. I was so happy with how much she nailed the vocals, my girl and I were jumping up and down just frothing! 

For this tune I was aiming to stay true to my sound but also push things a little further. It’s got the kalimbas, bright chords and pop vocals that I’ve been fond of, but I tried a few different things too. Hopefully people vibe on it and it makes them dance / make out.” – Paces
