Porter Robinson says ‘no’ to Katy Perry

Young upstart DJ/producer Porter Robinson has done what no red blooded man boy has done before… turned down pop singer Katy Perry.

Thankfully not to her symmetrically perfect face in real life but an opportunity to remix one of her wares to “stay true to his club roots” as the Daily Star tells it.

The 20 year old (yep, born in 1992) put it a little more sternly “It’s a surefire way of damaging your credibility and I just don’t think it’s inspiring. I want to make stuff that I enjoy so I won’t produce anyone else, for now.”

This action has countered what has slowly become a trend over the years as relatively cool producers are rung into remixing big pop hits for varying levels of cashola.

Hell we even remember Crookers taking on Britanys " target="_blank">“If U Seek Amy” three years ago ha.

His inspiration? The mau5head of course “I admire him because he’s yet to release a song that sounds like he’s trying to fit into something.”

Its good to see a young influence taking a stand against the grey water that dance and electronic music has washed with in recent times.

What has been your favourite/worst collaboration as pop meets dance?
