NYC’s Electric Zoo implements new safety measures for round 6

electric zoo

After a tumultuous recovery from last years double overdoses and media outcry, New York City’s famed Electric Zoo is back for it’s 6th year.  Once the focal point for dance music fan misanthropists, promoters Mike Bindra and Laura DePalma plan to make this years festival the new standard for festival safety.  Although the final word still lies in the hands of the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation, the plan is to return to Randall’s Island (also the home of Governor’s Ball) and to keep the Big Apple bash lit against the skyline where it belongs.

Electric Zoo will begin it’s positive rebirth through a multitude of new security measures including vendor background checks, shorter event hours, and “amnesty bins” for wary party animals to discard sketchy zoo feed or illegal substances.  Fans will be asked to do their share as well – an antidrug public service announcement delivered by the DJs themselves will become required watching, unlocking wristbands to gain access to the event.  It’s time to come to terms with the community’s responsibility for deaths across the globe and, all to often, in our own backyards.

The lineup has yet to be released, but the Zookeepers are opening up the suggestion box to the public here.  A limited presale will begin April 29th 10AM EDT at $289 and rise to the weekend GA price, $369.  Undecided?  Watch the trailer below and decide if you’d rather be free at home or caged in a musically charged Zoo with glitter on your face .
