Zed Bias – Boss [Swamp 81]

UKG veteran Zed Bias has just delivered his most recent album for Loefah‘s Swamp 81 ahead of launching his new Biasonic label, with ‘Boss’ being his fifth record following on from this year’s ‘Furrball / Boiler’ collaboration with Paleman and 2011’s now-sought-after double pack ‘Stubborn Phase’. It also comes after the imprint released Boddika’s ear-melting fire of an EP ‘Steam‘ earlier this year.

He’s easily one of the most enduring, influential and critically respected UK dance producers around today, and of the eight tunes on the album, two feature label mainstay MC Chunky while Strictly Rhythm’s venerable Roy Davis Jr lent a hand on ‘We Are There’. Speaking to FACT, Bias explains that “me and Loe[fah] first chatted about me making music for Swamp81 in 2009 on tour in Australia. It was then he first played me ‘Foot Crab’ by Addison Groove, and I loved that. I’ve been sending bits to Loe since then really and it’s been quite a selective process but in 2013 we got there.” Crossing between between house, garage, broken beat and even electro-funk, the whole album is optimal Swamp81 gear and highly recommended to the bass connoisseurs.

Zed Bias will be playing alongside fellow pioneer Oneman and Adelaide house lords Untzz for the quickly-selling ‘YES FAM ! ROOFTOP PARTY‘ in Perth December 6 – check out that event here and head over to Boomkat to buy the album!
