Nightmares On Wax – Feelin Good [Warp]

The self-proclaimed “grandaddy” of Warp Records and one of the institutional label’s most consistent and longest-running artists George Evelyn, aka Nightmares On Wax, is about to release his ‘Feelin Good’ full-length; an embracement of positivity and natural beauty drawing on funk, soul and reggae. Best known in Europe for his ground-breaking 90s albums ‘Smokers Delight’ and ‘Carboot Soul’ and in America the cinematic lo-funk of 2006’s ‘In A Space Outta Sound’, this LP will be his seventh studio outing and reflects on how the feeling of alacrity and indeed ‘feeling good’ has influenced his music, hence the album title.

“I come from the city but sunshine is in my music… It was always a natural dream to make music in the sun like I do now. It [feeling good] has been pivotal to my music making, and also made me think about the new concept of my live show. I’ve done the full band thing and the sound system thing and now I really want to marry the two and to do so with a real live percussive edge.”
