Mosca – A Thousand Year’s Wait EP [Ann Aimee]

Delsin Records sub-label Ann Aimee has just released its latest offering after Sawlin and Yan Cook last year, with UK tastemaker and Radio 1 presenter Mosca presenting his ‘A Thousand Year’s Wait’ EP after previous releases on Night SlugsHypercolour and 3024. Going from techno to bassline house to whatever else he wants to produce, his discography’s been tight. And despite reviews claiming that ‘A Thousand Year’s Wait’ is a bit disappointing and slightly lacklustre, I can’t help moving in my chair groovin’ to these three funky, industrial beasts. The EP sounds most like his excellent ‘Wavey’ EP on 3024 last year, but with ‘It’s Not What It Looks Like’ taking on haunched-over warehouse grooves, ‘Kneecap’ pulling on tiny little off-kilter chords bringing a sense of paranoia to the barrelling beats and ‘Press Up’ keeping the 6am deep, atmospheric vibe high, I can’t help feel that this is one of his best.

Fuck ’em Mosca, we still love you.
