Savor this delectable tune to prepare your palate for Maceo Plex’s upcoming DJ-Kicks mix. Due out April 30th on !K7 Records, it promises to be deliciously “deep and futuristic” (to use his own words). “Galactic Cinema” is his exclusive new track to accompany the meticulously interwoven opus of old and new, and it embodies that feeling of duality: it’s both dancey and pensive, dark and ethereal. With the aim of creating a sense of timelessness, Maceo Plex, aka Eric Estornel, explains how he integrated music from different eras to achieve an enduring compilation:

“The whole mix is comprised of vinyl-only tracks that are not going to be out on digital other than the DJ-Kicks mix. To do that I had to go through a lot of new music and a lot of old music…It took me at least three months. I went through my own stuff and previous DJ-Kicks mixes. Y’know, research. I think it is the most important mix series so I wanted to make sure it was music that I really loved and I want to hear in five or ten years time…This mix is kind of my legacy, or, at least, part of it.”
