Wow…what an album.

You would’ve heard some of these tunes doing the rounds in DJ sets for some time now (‘" target="_blank">If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don’t Want To Be Wrong‘, for example) but now the full ‘Yahoo Or The Highway’ record from Scotland’s Lockah is out on Donkey Pitch. It’s his debut album after a few EPs of playful instrumental hip-hop for Mad Decent, Slugabed’s Activia Benz and МИШКА (including 2012’s ‘Please Lockah’, ‘Don’t Hurt ‘Em’), and he also runs his own imprint, Tuff Wax. But this debut full-length sees him go from “italo disco to electro [and] rave to R&B,” while always maintaining his signature golden glitter. It’s got “synth driven melody and pop tendencies being weaved into a rich mix of influences, all whilst remaining resoundingly original and unconventional,” and it’s my favourite album of the month.
