Out last week was CDBL‘s Wake Up EP, a 6-track release complete with remixes from Small Fry and Mad Villians for the growing Sounds of Sumo imprint. Adding the producer to the already-impressive label roster of Kry Wolf and Whole Sick amongst others, SoS has been cultivating an up-to-the-minute tributary of the bass music spring.

This release only adds to its exciting back-catalogue, with ‘Wake Up’ showcasing a catchy bassline and string-laden build-ups, and ‘That Trick’ sneaking in some old-school breakbeat fun into the mix as well as a light touch of Mo Wax beatdown atmospherics. ‘Wanted’ goes all out on the 2-step swing and some Tim Wright-esque electro grind, and with contemporary beat-science on the remix treatment, it’s an all-round winning package for the bass lovers.
