John Roman – Metrojolt Guest Mix #15

Known for his unique style of tribal/minimal techno, Toronto producer John Roman has created something a little different in his guest mix for Metrojolt than what you might hear from him at the club. With classics like “We Control the Beat” and “Nuthin Wrong,” as well as new favorites like “The Giver” (Gingy, Bordello remix), and a few productions and remixes from Roman himself, the mix is dark yet dancey, with a seamless variety in track selection.

The progression of his remix of Modek’s “Up With Me” into Renaissance Man’s “Supercell” is spectacular, while both versions of “Dance For Me” from John Roman and Gina Turner pulsate with a huge 909 techno rhythm infused with hip-hop vibes (especially the Chocolate Puma remix).

In his interview with Metrojolt, Roman describes how “Dance For Me” was born: “With ‘Dance for Me’, Gina and I were throwing it back and forth for about a year, really happy that it’s coming out. We took some influence from Dance Mania kind of records with the 808 and 909 sounds.” Stay tuned for the official release of “Dance For Me” on Pssst Music March 18th.
