Glass Half Full, or… Glass Half Full? Vegas Residency Dramas

In recent times, beloved Avicii has been suffering from gallbladder related issues which eventually led to surgery. This was confirmed on twitter, “I’m sorry for having to postpone the shows this month, I sincerely wish I didn’t have to but unfortunately there’s no going around it. Health must always come first and in this case especially after my ruptured appendix that got removed, doctor’s orders have been really strict.” It explains why he bailed from his Ultra Music Festival performance and continues the pattern in Vegas this month. In his place, Zedd will perform on the 18th and Deamau5 on the 25th of April at SX, Las Vegas.

Deadmau5 is no stranger to filling in for Mr. Bergling, having replaced him at UMF this year. It’s been since last November that we saw Deamau5’s face and/or Mau5head in Vegas. He will surprisingly bring his be-headed Mau5head, “Unhooked” set to SX. The set has previously been known to mix Rage Against with March to Dr. Dre, and drop techno tracks from artists outside himself.

If you’re in town, I dare you to resist staying the month with acts such as Wolfgang Gartner, Diplo, Zedd and RL Grime painting the strip. If not, you can still catch Deamau5 at SonneMondSterne in Germany, Pukkelpop in Belgium and Creamfields UK later this year. I say glass half full now more so than ever after having streamed his live studio set at home last week.

All in all, it’s always a comforting thought to know that DJ’s are human too. We wish Avicii a speedy recovery.
