Filth Collins

After Mixing the Ministry of Sound Dubstep CD in December and recently completing a trap remix for Angger Dimas new EP coming out on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, Filth Collin’s has been a busy man. With a US tour set to be announce we thought we’d catch up with the dubstep maestro to pick his brain!

Who are your top 3 producers you would like to work with?

Liam Howlett, Rob Swire, and Diplo

What’s your favourite track at this minute?

Rustie – Slasher

What do you believe the current landscape holds for the Dubstep genre?

It seems as though people are tiring of the overly heavier side of dubstep and moving towards more experimental sounds and incorporating other genres into their own productions which I think is awesome and kind of overdue.

What’s your most memorable gig moment and why?

Stereosonic Festival Sydney was probably the most memorable show for me in terms of crowd size, crowd reaction, and the experience of the day as a whole. However, the most “interesting” gig moment was last year when I played at a remote mining town in Queensland, and during my set a huge brawl broke out on the dancefloor and I was instructed by club management to keep playing as they tried to clear out the fight from the club. That resulted in a moment where I was playing a dubstep set at a commercial nightclub to a single unconscious guy on the floor…

What’s your favourite video on YouTube right now?

Any of the videos by Krispy Kreme/Froggy Fresh.

What’s in store for Filth Collins in coming months?

I have a new EP being finished up right now along with some official remixes for other artists, they should be out mid 2013. I will then be heading on some headline tours throughout US, UK, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.

Check out Filth Collin’s collaboration with P.Money and others!
