Darkside’s delivers beautifully disjointed remix of St. Vincent’s ‘Digital Witness’

Can these guys do no wrong?

Nicholas Jaar and Dave Harrington’s Darkside continue to produce dark liquid vibes with their new remix of St. Vincent’s ‘Digital Witness’. A far cry from the original track (already very solid from the progressive pop artists ), the boys have applied their black musical alchemy to produce a slightly frightening but consistently groovy remix, evoking a strangely paradoxical phantom/robot sound.

A cold bassline, solid 4/4 bounce underlaying the track and a mass of eerie sound bites constitute the track, with Annie Clark’s vocals incredibly warped from here to Timbuktu. What eventuates is a sound caught between The Knife, a cold winter’s night and a robot having a seizure…sexily.

The remix is available on Jaar’s Other People website – click here to access it. Also check out their mind-numbingly good Boiler Room set – played out on a Brooklyn Rooftop late last year, sans your normal Boiler Room munting crowds. Impressive!

Darkside are currently on their Australia Tour, kicking off at the Hi-Fi in Sydney tonight. Are you heading down?
