Certified Trap Episode One

The first episode of the ‘Certified Trap‘ documentary series, co-produced by Mad Decent has spilled online to mix reactions.

Read: What Is Trap Music?

Self-confessed, the doco is described as “a revolutionary web series on Trap Music and it’s growing influence on other genres. Our goal was to reach out to influential players on both sides of the fence”.

From the get go we’re hit with a swathe of features from Dirty South Joe, Gucci Mane, Waka Flacka, DJ Sega, DJ Spinz, Trap-A-Holics, Flosstradamus and many many more who give us their own accounts of what exactly was and is trap music.

Opinions are planted as to the aggressive roots of the genre all the way to its modern accessibility as it blends with EDM – “unlike dubstep its energetic without overwhelming.”

Soothsayer Tommie Sunshine was quick to garb on the fact that the ‘documentary’ was based only around the most recent forthcomings of the sound and “can a genre get a documentary in less than a year?”

In some ways we’re glad to see a polar reaction to commercial Hip-Hop artists utalizing dance beats but still unsure of the future for trap music.

Has the genre already grown further without any real knowledge planted?
