Audiojack’s Top 5 Plugins

Do you wonder where the pros get their sounds from? Need some production inspiration?  English Deep House/Tech DJ/producers Audiojack, have given us a peek under the hood, relaying to us some of their favorite plugins and have further provided us with some good sources that cover reviews and overviews on how they are used.

If you are not familiar with Audiojack, they have had some quality releases off Get Physical, 20:20 Vision and Exploited. In conjunction with this, they have done fantastic remixes of work from NTFODaniel Dexter and Mat. Joe to name a few.

Rob Papen Albino III

The Albino III is a great all round synth that has a great range of presets that cover most types of sound. Once you have one of the basic presets it’s then relatively easy for you to manipulate that sound to get something new. When we’ve been making covers or remixes of tracks such as Last Rhythm and we’ve had to remake every element of the track from scratch, this has been our ‘go to‘ synth.

Native Instruments Massive

When ever we’re asked to give advice to up and coming producers one thing we often say is to think outside the box and take influence from music outside of the genre you’re trying to make. That’s how fresh new styles emerge for example when guys like Huxley and Eats Everything took influence from 90’s UK garage and brought it into the house music fold. Native Instruments Massive is primarily aimed at Dubstep and DnB, so we use the sounds that you get out of that and make house music with it, so you get something different to the current musical trends.

Image Line’s Harmor

Whilst lacking in lots of presets, it’s very quick and simple to get some amazing sounds out of this synth, the inbuilt effects like the compressor and distortion are very high quality and can give a really warm and visceral analogue sound which we used in everything from the bass lines in Nightwatch and our Closed Eye remix of Mat Joe – Safe Flight to the Rhodes keys in our remix of Chris James – Song For Her.

Waves Enigma

Enigma is part of the Waves Platinum bundle and has a variety functions but we use it for a combination of flange and delay effects for use on pads and synths to give what could be a boring riff some life and movement. It was used on the breakdowns on our track No Equal Sides and our remix of NTFO – Policrom

TAL Dub II

Last but not least TAL Dub II is a freeware delay plugin that although basic has some very useful delays that we regularly use on vocals and arpeggiated lead lines. It uses a combination of delay and filters and you can produce some really weird opened ended effects that bring something different to the table in comparison to standard delays.
