A$AP Rocky/Baauer Spruik ‘Riotous’ New Video

The man with the purple swag A$AP Rocky has had a big old week dropping two fresh tracks with two electro heavy hitters. On Sunday we got the hotly anticipated A$AP collab with Gessafelstein, which left us a little underwhelmed to be honest.

He’s subsequently backed it up with a little “art video” for his track “Riot Rave”, an instrumental that will feature on his upcoming collection of instrumentals Beauty N the Bea$t: Slowed Down Sessions Chapter 1′. The beat is a collab between himself and fellow New York-ian Baauer, who we’re pumped to see on the weekend at Future… only we hope he doesn’t slip this one into his sets.

The beat is fairly lacklustre and doesn’t offer much until the final 50 seconds or so. The video on the other hand is pretty rad. Violent imagery documenting riots of young A$AP faithful through the five boroughs of NYC, spliced together with familiar Disney clips and mutated felines gives this clip a little more traction. All this ‘allegedly’ took place and as the disclaimer notes “Shit Got Real” – yet it reeks of a cheeky little publicity stunt from the rapper.

According to Hotnewhiphop A$AP  “shut down the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo with a bit of guerilla marketing…Rocky rolled up to the intersection at Lafayette Street and Broadway and announced the impending release of his new instrumental album…Almost immediately, a “flash mob of A$AP fans” garbed in A$AP Bari’s new VLone clothing line descended on the intersection as the track blasted from a vehicle.” Nice one Rock.

So take that “Shit Got Real” quote with just a little grain of salt.
