Listen to this newly unearthed, ridiculous 5-hour Bang Gang mix

It’s like stepping back in time whenever you take a listen to a vintage Bang Gang mix with a kaleidoscope of electro stompers, wonky tunes and classic hits all mashed together. Which is a pretty good reason why we’re pretty chuffed to see a newly unearthed, Bang Gang mix hit the internet.

For those not entirely familiar, the Bang Gang parties were infamous for a no rules approach and their cohorts Ajax, Jaime Doom, Dangerous Dan, Gus da Hoodrat, DJ Damage and Double Nolan were the ones bringing international tunes and artists to the local clubs for a short but powerful moment.

The newly unearthed mix isn’t your standard mix either and instead captured a beautiful 5-hour tribute to dance legend Ajax, the ‘dad’ of Bang Gang and absolute catalyst for a ridiculously special time in Australian dance music from the early 2000’s.

It all went down with Gus Da Hood Rat and (Jamie) Doom on the wheels of steel for five solid hours of electro goodness at the once potent Melbourne club Survivor. It has since closed its doors many years ago but has now begun uploading a treasure trove of mixes from the archive including sets from Carl Craig and Tensnake, both huge flavours of electronic music at the time!

If you’re in the mood for all the hits including bangers from Justice, Boys Noize, Freeform Five, Yelle, Similou, Mylo, Daft Punk and many, many more as well as quotes from Ajax peppered in it, then this one is for you. Hint: to really get into it, jump to the 40 minute mark!

Better yet, dive into all the classic Bang Gang mixes here.
