Sparrows gets personal on indie dance cut ‘Over & Out’

Sydney artist Sparrows has been slowly making waves as she builds her repertoire and hones in on her sound. With that, her latest track Over & Out is her most defining yet.

Beginning with a tribal groove, Sparrows creates a brooding atmosphere, before breaking off into a dreamy chorus, mixed in with 80s style synths and a housey hook that gets you moving. The tune finds a way to meld danceability and dramatic feel without being uncomfortable and you could picture it between a couple of disco tracks at the club, with a face value fun feel that develops into so much more.

This light and dark contrast seems to be what Sparrows has gone for saying, ‘The song is duplicitous in nature – it’s about the ending of a friendship, but also the ending of any scenario/habit that no longer sits right with you.’ A sentiment that’s far too relatable.

We can’t get enough, so check it out below and tell us what you think, is Sparrows the next big thing?

Sparrows will be on tour later in 2018

19th October – Otto’s House Party – Sydney NSW w/ San Mei
23rd November – Penny Black – Melbourne VIC
