New liquor regulations are giving microbreweries around Sydney’s inner west a welcome boost with a 12 month trial to allow them to operate as small bars and sit 100 patrons.
It will release the struggles by these local brewers to flourish as licensing and development application procedures took hold and stagnated progress. Microbrewers will also now have the logistical freedom taken care of as tasting rooms will be easier to clarify in development proposals through this announcement it is said.
“We want the Inner West to be for craft beer what the Hunter Valley and the Barossa are to Australian wine” said Inner West Mayor Darcy Bryne in a Facebook post.
“Giving craft brewers certainty about the space they can make available for tasting rooms as well as clarification on what products they can sell on the premise will be a huge step forward.”
This will initially be exclusive to the inner west but could potentially be rolled out to other states if successful. So with all that said, let’s go drink some beer!
