Popular LA party Low End Theory is closing down

Renowned electronic music hub Low End Theory will unfortunately be closing down this coming August, having announced this sad news on Instagram over night.

The detailed post gave a run-down for the reasoning why the long-running event is closing down, and there are “several factors” on hand. “Family obligations. Work demands. Life. The general consensus amongst the residents is that we have overstayed our welcome, and our greatest hope now is that the final ten weeks of Low End Theory can serve as a time for the beat community to set aside our differences, come together, and hopefully remember what made Low End Theory a special place to begin with: the music.”

Low End Theory started in 2006 under the direction of Alpha Pup boss Daddy Kev in 2006, and has been a popular weekly event since. It has helped build the careers and hold a platform for artists like Shlohmo, Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing, Groundislava, Daedelus, Jonwayne, James Blake and many more.

Check some vintage footage of Shlohmo at Low End below and if you’re in the LA area, be sure to get along to one of the final 10 events in the lead up to it’s August 8 closure.
