Throwback Track: FKA Twigs – Water Me

FKA Twigs was, without a shadow of a doubt, a much needed breath of fresh air in the electro-pop world from the get-go.

The combination of her unique aesthetic and eclectic sound created an almost instantaneous demand of attention on a global scale, and between her entry into the music world until now, she has delivered a plethora of finely curated projects that convey just how insanely talented this UK based singer/songwriter is.

Going back to the early days of her music career, this week’s throwback is dedicated to the track that introduced me to FKA Twigs, ‘Water Me’.

Released as the lead single in her 2013 EP ‘EP2‘, this track is a quirky yet haunting cut that – along with it’s viral music video directed by Jesse Kanda – was a powerful intro into the intriguing weirdness that is FKA Twigs.

Production wise, the track is extremely well crafted. Courtesy of a young Arca, ‘Water Me’ intertwines Twigs’ vocals with an experimental yet tranquil instrumental blend from the NYC producer, who has gone on the build an incredible career in the years to come himself.

It’s been a good while since we heard new music from Twigs, so relive ‘Water Me’ below for now along with the rest of her back catalogue.
