Throwback Track: Booka Shade – In White Rooms

Booka Shade (Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeie) have undoubtedly reached legend status in the electronic music spectrum, with a career stretching deep into the 90s but gaining global recognition on their 2004 breakthrough album ‘Memento’.

Quickly becoming a staple in the club music scene, the German duo cemented their authority come 2006 with the release of what would become their most recognisable single, ‘In White Rooms’ – our throwback track for this week. The track was part of their second studio album ‘Movements’, along with other stand out singles such as ‘Night Falls’ and ‘Take A Ride’.

The song was a catching, ear-worm towards the end of the album, and despite being described as one of their simpler releases, it became their most famous. Simple chord progression matched with an enticing, gradual build was the formula for this track, which, now 12-years on, has proven to be timeless.

With Booka Shade currently making their way around Australia we figured today would be a good day to remind you all of the majesty that is ‘In White Rooms’.

Relive this monster of a tune below, and be sure to catch them in Brisbane this Friday at The MET.
