Diving head first into 2018, Chris Emerson’s brainchild What So Not kicks off the year with a shimmering new summer anthem ‘Be Ok Again‘.

Featuring dreamy vocals from Silverchair’s Daniel Johns, the track begins with a swelling melody followed by an undertone of distorted bass, eventually carrying the track to it’s climax with a crescendo of warm synths and percussion. The buildup leaves us with a set of beautiful analogue-esque chords accompanied by the deep organic sub bass native to Emerson’s lush style of production. As the bouncy beat progresses we are soon met with a sea of synthetic landscapes accompanied by the main vocal.

According to Emoh himself, the personal involvement in the video marked a new phase in his career as he not only starred in it, but wrote and co-directed it alongside filmmaker Luke Eblen. Emerson speaks on the video saying “We worked with a small budget (most of the shots taken in a half mile circumference of Luke’s house). We sourced props & items from hardware & thrift stores & used the environment around us – swimming pools, industrial spaces & the ocean (Nima [DOP] & Luke actually had me swim out fully clothed in 12ft surf for some of the shots ha).”
