After receiving some backlash from cloning the minimoog, facing criticisms of pricing and maintaining the legacy of the original product, Behringer are willing to roll the dice again and clone some vintage Roland TR-808 and 909 drum machines and more lesser-known synthesizers such as the EDP Wasp and Octave’s CAT.

Owning up to the minimoog flop “As we are owning the mistake, we also feel it’s necessary to inform the public about this error as a sign of good faith,” the company adds. “It was not our intention to mislead customers in any way nor use this as a marketing tool.” Will they change it around for this new release? Show it a bit more respect to it’s vintage legacy (in the eyes of fans)?

“To be perfectly transparent, the leaked information does not imply any availability at this time or even definitive evidence that we intend to officially develop or deliver these products in the future. At this stage, the leaked products are merely concepts and nothing more.”

We have faith, they’re really going into detail in recreating these instruments, with their synth selection including an EMS Synthi VCS3, Roland SH-101 and Korg MS-20. Juicy factor is that Roland and Korg have to updated their MS-20, so who’s MS-20 will be the superior?

Pre-orders for Behringer’s Minimoog clone, the Behringer D, have been available since June, but isn’t going to ship to us until 2018. As for the Synths, well we’ll have to see if Roland and Korg give the green light so it’s not going to be hitting the markets for a while.
